EAGLE-CON 2015 SAVE THE DATE!!

Thursday, May 14 , 2015 at Cal State L.A.'s University-Student Union

If you loved Eagle-Con this past spring, or missed it and want the chance to experience it for yourself, mark your calendars now for Eagle-Con 2015! The 2-day science fiction/fantasy/comic book convention that shines a critical, academic lens on identity, diversity, and representation returns this spring with new workshops, presenters, special guests!

We need Cal State L.A. student writers and artists!
We've got something very special for Eagle-Con's hero, Skywing, and we need your help. We're looking for talented artists and writers to create the first-ever Eagle-Con comic book! So if you're a penciler, inker, sketch artist, painter, or digital/graphic artist, we're looking for you! If you write novels, short stories, plays, or screenplays, we're looking for you! A love and knowledge of sci-fi/fantasy/comics books is preferred for both categories. You must be a current Cal State L.A. student to apply. Applications available in the Center for Student Involvement beginning Oct. 13th. Please submit your application, along with a sample of your work, to CSI by Nov 21st.

CALLING ALL ARTISTS!
The Eagle-Con 2015 Rogues Gallery needs submissions! We're honored to recognize the students whose work was part of last year's professional art installation sponsored by the Art Directors Guild, and we're looking for new student artists to create and submit work to be part of this year's exhibit in the spring. The categories are 2D, 3D, and photography, so start working on your entries now! Contact CSI for more information.

What is Eagle-Con?
Eagle-Con is a 2-day event that brings together indie comics, superheroes, critical thinking, and an insider's view of this highly creative industry. Nested on the campus of Cal State L.A., home of the Golden Eagles, Eagle-Con will explore issues of race, gender, orientation, identity, and representation in comic books while also celebrating the boundless imagination of artists and writers that turns ordinary humans into life-long devotees of the superhero/ine.
A collaboration between Cal State L.A.'s student life (University-Student Union) and academic life (College of Arts & Letters), and with the generous support of the Art Directors Guild, Eagle-Con is a place where people of ALL shapes, sizes, hues, and fandoms can come together to learn, explore, and grow.
