Independent Visions: Rejoice

Rejoice and Shout covers the 200 year musical history of African American spirituality, including interviews with past and current Gospel music legends, exploring connections with Black political movements, and tracing the evolution of gospel music through its many styles. Film followed by a discussion led by Quella “Q” Porter, CSULA alum, former CCC student assistant, and former director of the CSULA Gospel Choir, who’ll discuss gospel music and plans to revive the CSULA Gospel Choir. Directed by Don McGlynn, 2011, 115 minutes.
