To my friends and family, especially my mom, that has been my biggest supporter. It means the world to me to have you here. First and foremost, I would like to thank my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I have climbed the ladder, from CNA, LVN, RN, and now FNP. Thank you, Cal State LA faculties, Cohorts, and the Department of Correctional Health Services for your encouragement and support throughout my journey.
BUT ONLY FOR THE GRACE OF GOD! Thank you to my amazing village for being my motivation and my continued push to get this “thang” done! Hallelujah, thank you Jesus!
Praise God from whom all blessings flow. Without him, I am nothing. I would like to thank my family and friends for loving, supporting, and pushing me to get to this point in my life. It was a journey but truly well worth it! I also want to make a special shout out to my son Eric, who is commencing today as well. You did it! I couldn’t be more proud. Skee-Wee~Blue-Phi.

It’s been a wonderful pleasure being on this campus with the Black students, faculty and staff that I have met. Without these entities I would not have been able to successfully finish here. I am appreciative of my village. Y’all remember me when I’m famous!
Blessed and created by the best. I would like to thank my family and friends for loving me no less. Those that played roles of mentors and encouraged me, that really meant the world to me. No amount of words can describe the appreciation, no negation. I’m just filled with joy that I finally made it.
The past 4 years haven't been the easiest thing but it was possible through the love and support of my friends, family, DPHIE, and my number one fan, my mother, it was a comforting feeling knowing that I could always count on your support and encouragement. I am grateful for my experience at Cal State LA. I have built last business and personal relationships through the Black entities on-campus that I will take into my future. I hope to utilize my skills to uplift my community and achieve liberation.
I would like to thank everyone who was in my corner since day one. This process hasn’t been the easiest, but no one ever said life was going to be easy. I have been put in situations to where I had to be a man early on in life. I would like to thank my mother for teaching me what it really is to be a man and helping me to develop as a whole.
I would like to thank all the positive black role models in my life. You have inspired me to continue to dismantle the negative stereotypes we as black leaders face. Your support and guidance has been the backbone of my success here at Cal State LA. Because of you I will continue to be a leader to the black youth who are following my footsteps. Black love and leadership is powerful.
I would like to thank my friends and family for supporting me every day. They encouraged me to fight through my challenges, which helped me get this far in my education. Without them, I wouldn’t be here celebrating my achievements and graduating from Cal State LA right now. I would also like to thank my professors and tutors for their assistance throughout my college experience. Everyone here should be proud of everything they accomplished.
I am honored to be a CSULA graduate. I would like to thank my children Sarah and Aaron for their support. It's been a long journey for me that started 38 years. Since my retirement my children encouraged me to complete my degree. Aaron graduated in 2019 from CSULA, manga cum ladue and Sarah is graduating this year with honors at University of Maryland (Global). I'm so proud of our accomplishments.
