Welcome to the Golden Eagle Nutrition Education (GENE) program! Here, you can sign up for personalized nutrition education sessions provided by our Cal State LA Nutritional Science students. Our student coaches can teach you everything you need to know about nutrition, plus the science of mindfulness and habit change. Think of your nutrition coach as a supportive mentor who can offer individual feedback and encouragement as you make food and lifestyle changes.

Our GENE coaches are all working to finish their Masters' of Science in Nutrition here at Cal State LA.


Coach Celeste

is a graduate student in Nutritional Science with experience in both clinical and community nutrition settings. She brings a caring, supportive approach to nutrition coaching and is passionate about creating a safe space for your growth and self-confidence. As an encourager, Coach Celeste will work with you to explore food behaviors, habits, and lifestyle changes in a realistic and compassionate way. Her goal is to help you feel supported, empowered, and confident as you work toward your personal wellness goals.

Coach Ashley

is a graduate student in Nutritional Science and a seasoned chef who follows the philosophy: 'Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.' With an extensive food industry background, experience working with eating disorder patients, and a focus on nutrition's relationship with chronic autoimmune conditions, Coach Ash will passionately provide you a helping hand to understand, treat, and recover from your conditions through nutrition. She is focused on providing thorough evidence-based nutrition education to you and helping to get to the root of your nutritional needs.

Coach Mariana

is a Nutritional Science graduate student who plans on becoming a Registered Dietitian. She is passionate about helping her community achieve healthier lifestyles without leaving their cultural foods behind. She is also interested in sports nutrition. Coach Mariana interned with the UCLA football team for over two years under the direction of different dietitians. She speaks both English and Spanish and greets everyone with a smile and kindness. She has two fur kids (a cat and a dog) and she watches soccer and visits local coffee shops in her free time.

Coach Lauren

is passionate about fitness, fuel, and hitting her protein goals. Using culture and flexibility, she helps you connect to your passions and joy while making informed nutrition choices that not only make you feel good but also fuel you to take on any challenge the day presents. Coach Lauren is an aspiring Registered Dietitian completing her Master's degree in Nutritional Science and plans to work with athletes and individuals seeking a little more balance in their nutrition choices. Together, we can set realistic goals you can be proud of. A fun fact about Coach Lauren is that her favorite food group is ‘coffee.’ Let's chat!

Coach Robert

Robert is the name and nutrition is the game! Let’s talk about food, not just for the delectable taste, but for food's importance to the human body. Graduating with his undergrad in Nutritional Science from Cal State LA, Coach Robert is now working on his Master’s degree. As a man learning the positives and negatives about food, he will help you reach that right combination of love and understanding about the best foods for you. It's a journey that can be joyful with a patient, supportive and encouraging partner by your side. Coach Robert is your man. So, get on the horn and give him a YEERRRR!

Coach Sara

is a retired chef, graduate nutritional science’s student, and future Registered Dietitian. She is passionate about body-inclusive, evidence-based nutrition and helping you build a calmer, more confident relationship with food. Her approach focuses on practical nutrition literacy, realistic habit change, and honoring culture, access, and personal preferences rather than rigid rules. Coach Sara has a strong interest in pediatric and community nutrition and loves translating science into everyday strategies that feel doable and supportive. She loves piña coladas and getting caught in the rain, and believes “health food” is subjective. Let’s talk about what nourishment looks like for you.

Coach Skye

has a philosophy: 'In life, almost nothing is free.' She believes that health care costs show up in one way or another, whether in higher grocery bills or medical bills. Which would you prefer? Graduating with her Bachelor’s in Plant Science from Cal Poly Pomona and now completing her Masters in Nutritional Science, she has a passion for helping others achieve their health goals, as well as loves every aspect of food production from farm to table. With her hands-on experience gained from working as a dietary aide in a hospital, Coach Skye understands that specific diseases require different diet plans. However, Coach Skye refuses boring and strict meal plans and always aims to look for fun ways to spice up your menu. Through her love for growing food, meal prepping, preparing home cooked meals, and doing Pilates, Coach Skye will guide and support you in making the life changes you are ready to start.

Coach Steph

is driven by a love of food. She brings her knowledge of nutritional science and behavior change to support you and your individual health journey. She believes that food contributes more than just nutrients to our health. Once she becomes a Registered Dietitian, Coach Steph plans to support the health of diverse communities and those with gastrointestinal disorders. Outside of her coursework, she loves to get into nature for a hike, practice gentle movement through yoga, and explore her creativity through acrylic painting and gluten-free baking. Looking for a compassionate coach to help you translate the science to your life? Let’s ditch the food rules and explore the joy of food together.

Coach Clara

is passionate about helping you achieve your nutritional and health wellness goals. With her background in facilitating cooking workshops for women's shelters, she enjoys teaching others how to build a healthy and balanced lifestyle without cutting out their favorite foods. Which means you can still eat tacos and a mangoade while still achieving your health goals. Coach Clara is known for creating a safe space for you to become the better version of yourself.

Coach Elvis

is finishing up his Master’s in Nutritional Science and his goal is to become a Registered Dietitian and working with patients with diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and cancer in a clinical setting. When he is not my studying, his favorite hobbies are playing and watching soccer, listening to music, playing video games, and being active in every way. Coach Elvis looks forward to working with you on any health issues and nutritional goals that you may have, and he will be here to provide support and guide along the way.

Coach Jasmine

is a graduate student in the Nutritional Science program. She is a kind-hearted teacher working towards becoming a Registered Dietitian. She can help support your nutrition goals with an open-mind and understanding approach. Coach Jasmine can help you nourish your body with the foods you love and help you incorporate your beautiful cultural foods in your everyday life. Ready to start your journey? Coach Katie

is a graduate student in Nutritional Science who is passionate about helping individuals and families build healthy, sustainable habits that support both performance and everyday life. With experience in sports nutrition and a love for cooking nourishing family meals, she believes food should fuel the body while remaining enjoyable and realistic. As a mum, Coach Katie understands the challenges of balancing nutrition with busy schedules and family needs. She enjoys incorporating plant-forward and vegetarian meals, always taking a flexible, personalized approach. Coach Katie is excited to support you in finding strategies that work for your lifestyle and goals.

Coach Beth

is a Nutritional Science graduate student who is passionate about practical, supportive nutrition that meets you where they are. As a mom of two active boys in sports, she understands the challenge of fueling busy lives while making nutritious, budget friendly meals on the go. Coach Beth loves helping people feel empowered, in control, and confident in their food choices, especially while navigating chronic illness and life’s curveballs. On weekends, you will find her hiking or cheering her sons from the sidelines, usually thinking about which matcha she is going to get.

Coach Leslie

is a Dietetic Technician, Registered with clinical and counseling experiences and a deep appreciation for food from seed to plate, including hands-on experience growing food in urban farm settings. Her approach is client-centered, culturally responsive, and grounded in evidence-based nutrition, with skills that support and empower the communities of diverse cultures. Coach Leslie is passionate about using nutrition to promote healing, access, and confidence around food. Her favorite foods include sushi, chiles rellenos, and big colorful salads with tangy vinaigrettes.

Coach Jasmin

brings a background in school food service, where she supports students’ health by promoting healthy habits for lifelong nutrition and fitness practices. She also has experience as a volleyball coach, fueling her interest in sports nutrition and performance. When not working, Coach Jasmin can usually be found drinking coffee, painting outside, or enjoying Nutella raspberry crepes. She is passionate about using nutrition to help people feel stronger, more confident, and energized in their bodies.
